I’m writing to tell you about Jasmine Styles. She’s the same age as me: 26. While we should be at similar points in our life, we’re not. Nothing could be further from the truth. Roughly three years ago she fainted and went to the hospital. They found a tumor the size of a melon in her pelvis. Then they found coin-sized tumors in her lungs. On Monday, November 10, 2008 the doctors discovered three tumors in her brain.
She lives with her boyfriend of nine years, Jeff. His love and dedication for her has never faltered. I haven’t always been able to live in the same city as Jasmine but I’ve never had to worry- Jeff has never left her side.
Jeff and Jasmine want to get married but, due to Jasmine’s health and goal of triumph over cancer, this plan has taken a backseat.
I reactively called my close friends after I heard about the tumors discovered in Jasmine’s brain. Katie Pearse, a friend I’ve known since I was five, instantly texted, “Can we help Jasmine get married? Get people to donate things from businesses, get donations...?”
And so here we are. Here’s to some goodwill going a long way. Let’s help Jasmine and Jeff get married the way they’ve always wanted to.
